Re: euthanasia
If you sign a contract and agree with everything, i think you can give permission to somebody to kill you. If somebody does not want to live, they will find a way.
Re: euthanasia
Suicide is illegal, why shouldn't assisted suicide be.

Re: euthanasia
Suicide is legal, but it is still an unwritten law in a confusing sort of way. What about Physician-assisted suicide for the terminally ill? That is legal in Oregon.
Re: euthanasia

Re: euthanasia
It depends on the circumstances, what if the person being killed didnt really want to die, or if their paperwork was forged.

Re: euthanasia
Yeah, this may not be a good idea.
If someone is going to die anyway, then just put them under until it happens.

Re: euthanasia
There will always be those who would argue against that, like those who want/don't want their loved ones kept in a vegetative state.

Re: euthanasia
As far as preventing false documentation there could be photographic eveidence of the person signing the papers, which would work...other than that a lot of terminally-ill bed-ridden people probably wouldn't want to be photographed that way

Re: euthanasia
The reason it is illegal is because someone will lie and say "this person wanted to die they were asking for my help" and then they world will become a free for all for murder

^ The Hemlock society. I'm not a supporter, and don't really hold a view on this, but I just thought I should inform that their are actually organizations for this kind of stuff.

Re: euthanasia
I think Oregon is the only state euthanasia is legal, though I may be wrong.
I took a Morality class last year and this was one of the topics. It's something I've been on the fence about. I believe that a person is in control of their life, if they choose to take it, so be it.
Whether medical assitance should be given, I don't know.
I'm one of those people who have that reasonable doubt.
What if there is that chance and you just don't see it?
I don't know. I need to look into this more to have a more formal opinion. This is a complete waste of post. Apologies.

Re: euthanasia
no it wasn't you opened up a new fact with oregon.
which also scares me, people who are depressed about their illness can and probably will miss the opportunity to find a cure and live longer, personally i feel euthanization will be abused and people will die who don't want to.

Re: euthanasia
What would you do if you found out you had a terminal illness? lets say you have 5 months, tops.
Re: euthanasia
i would bunjee jump, sky dive,go on every rollercoaster in the amusement park, join the mile high club and the mile low club, i would eat anything and everything, i would break shit, write my will and on my death bed i will "rosebud" and drop a snow globe on the floor. i would not want those precious moments of life to be taken from me though
Re: euthanasia
That is all great, till your body starts to wear down more and more as the disease progresses till you are bedridden and helplessly deteriorating.
